Ice Cream - Cold Stone Style

If you don't have a Cold Stone Creamery nearby or can't justify the expense, you can still duplicate the process at home.  Keep a good vanilla ice cream on hand and add your favorite toppings, but don't just sprinkle or pour them on top.

Cut into your ice cream, breaking it up a bit with a spoon or butter knife then work the extras into it much like you would cut in butter for a pie crust.  You don't need the stone slab to do it, you can make it work right in your bowl (although it might be easier with a wider bowl such as a pasta dish, rather than a deeper bowl).

My favorite semi-Stone Cold concoction is peanut butter and fudge sauce with French vanilla ice cream.  You can use generic chocolate syrup, but for a richer ice cream parlor taste, stick with the thicker fudge sauce from a jar or make your own.  I don't know why it tastes so  much better when worked into the ice cream rather than poured on as an afterthought, but there's something about working it in that makes it even more flavorful.

The Founder's Favorite® your choice?  Make your own knock-off with caramel, chocolate fudge, brownie bits and pecans. Chocolate ice cream with mini marshmallows and a handful of nuts make a yummy homemade Rocky Road to rival any at the sundae shop.

Be daring and combine cookies, peanut butter cups, chocolate chips, and fresh or frozen berries in various combinations to come up with your own signature ice cream treats. Give it a try and let me know what you come up with.

I'm taking the A-Z Blogging Challenge, where I will post something from each letter of the alphabet on the corresponding day in April, except for Sunday, on at least one if not all four of my blogs. You can see my other blogs in the sidebar - More of Marie Anne.

We do this at home sometimes with the grands. I like bits of oatmeal-raisin cookies, walnuts, and chocolate chips in mine--the kids seem to think that no matter what they mix in, the important thing is quantity. ;O)

My “I” post is here: http://www.word-nerd-speaks.com/2011/04/inconspicuous-online.html

I love cold stone creamery. We don't have them in the UK, or even Dairy Queen. Can you hear the sounds of sobbing :( I love ice cream too...

Normally, I start with chocolate ice cream. However, I also like to add fudge sauce to Chunky Monkey, which is banana ice cream with walnuts and dark chocolate chunks.

My creation is going to be coconut, chocolate, bing cherries, and some kind of nut.

Ice cream ranks number one at the top of my guilty indulgences or weaknesses. :) I almost blogged about it today, as a matter of fact. I will even eat ice cream when the temps are below freezing. Cold Stone is the best, and just reading your technique for combining the ingredients made my mouth water!

Nice idea, I'll have to try that sometime maybe with peanut butter and mint. Or maybe jam. The good thing about mix ins instead of topping is the distribution of goodies in the ice cream. Though ice wine can be a good topping.

Funny. The kids and I JUST ate ice cream and we all drizzled caramel on ours. That's all I need – lots of caramel. YUMMMMMM!

I guess you will want to get a twitter icon to your blog. Just marked down this url, however I must make it manually. Simply my 2 cents.
