No Longer a Walgreens Virgin! 6/5/2011

I made my first trip out this morning to pick up the newspaper and hit Walgreens for some good deals.  Stopped at the little mom & pop store for the papers and they weren't open yet, but the unopened stack of newspapers was sitting out front.  Hmm ... what to do.

I opened them, took two and put my $2 under the band.   I felt strange doing it, but at least I was honest and paid for them rather than just driving off with the whole stack.  The way I look at it, it was no different than buying them from a machine.  I never would have taken more than I paid for, but it surprised me that they were sitting out there well after daylight and visible from the road where anyone could have taken them.

Off to Walgreens!

Garnier shampoo and conditioner was on sale at 4/$14 with $4 RR (Walgreens bucks to use on future purchases), regular price I think was $4.99.  I had two coupons I'd printed yesterday and got another from each of the two newspapers I bought on the way to Walgreens.

Omega Smart Fish Oil was on sale for $10, with a $10 RR, essentially making it free.  Regular price was $24.99 and there's no way I would have paid that for 30 softgel caps!  I also had two coupons for $2 each, so I bought two of the Omega Smart Fish Oil, which means they paid me $4 to purchase them.

Shampoo for $1.50 ea and they paid me $4 to buy the fish oil

With tax, I paid a total of $28.38 but received $24 in RR, so paid $4.38 to get four bottles of Garnier shampoo and two 1-month supply bottles of Omega Smart Fish Oil caps.  I live alone and don't use much shampoo on my short hair, so the four bottles will likely last me the rest of the year.

There were many other free or nearly free deals I could have taken advantage of, but on things I don't really use so didn't want to be greedy.  I may go back for more fish oil later in the week when I'm out and about, because those I can definitely use.

Now to go through the rest of the coupons and see what other good deals I can match up!

Oops, almost forgot. Walgreens also printed out a coupon for $10 off on purchase of $25 or more at Fashion Bug. I don't shop there, so first person to shout out that they want this can have it for sending me a SASE. Exp 6/26/11.

Hooking up with Super Stalker Sunday! Come see what all the fuss is about.

Nice! My niece is a coupon/sale expert and gets the most amazing deals, too.

I'm not much of a consumer, usually pay 98 cents for shampoo. I bought two Rite Aid 500 softgels fish oil (500mg) 1000 softgels for $10.00 . I never learned to coupon, it always seemed that a better deal was elsewhere.

But good for you, seems like you are successful at it.

I feel as if I live at Walgreens, I go there so much. For some reason, I never thought to use coupons there because I generally use those at the grocery store.
