Decorating With Dishes

Several years ago when I lived in Minnesota, I came across some pretty blue dishes at an antique store that I thought would look nice in my newly painted kitchen.  I displayed a few over the cabinets and the rest on this built in desk.

Moving several times since then relegated my dishes to boxes yet again.  I bought my house in Ohio two years ago and it's been an ongoing struggle to make it livable, but I decided it was time to pull out the blue dishes to add a bit of color to my otherwise bare kitchen walls.  I was able to find the dinner and butter plates, but unfortunately I have no idea where the teacups, saucers, sugar and creamer are hiding.

Only 3 dinner plates and one bowl.
What to do with them?

With seven bread plates, I'm not sure if I should go this way

Or this

I've got plates and hangers at the ready, now just need someone to help arrange and hang them for me.  Any volunteers?

I'm taking the A-Z Blogging Challenge, where I will post something from each letter of the alphabet on the corresponding day in April, except for Sunday, on at least one if not all four of my blogs. You can see my other blogs in the sidebar - More of Marie Anne.

I love the way antique dishes look in a kitchen! My step mom used to have a set she decorated with. I like the very bottom picture the best. Can't wait to see when you have everything all set up!

Very pretty dishes, however I don't have the "eye" to help you know how to arrange them.

I hope you get your house straightened out soon. I know you've dealt with many unexpected issues.

Love this post! I collect brown drip pieces and can't wait to have a kitchen big enough to display many of my favorite pieces.

Not sure I have the right eye to help with that. But they are very beautiful! I hope you post pics when you're done. :)

Ooh! Those are gorgeous dishes. I do love dishes, but I don't have the cabinet space to keep extras. :(

Pretty dishes...I will probably be doing a move and I just cringe thinking about trying to make another house a home-decorating is not really one of my strong points. Oh well-bare walls can be nice, right? :)

I have some antique plates I just love. None of them match. I like mine on the wall. Maybe you could hang a pretty hand crocheted rose-printed vertical ribbon to the left of your cabinet (if you have room) and line the dinner plates and bread plates along the ribbon in a bread-dinner-bread-dinner-bread-dinner-bread plate pattern. The rest you could put on the top of your cabinet with the bowl in the center – in front of the remaining bread plates. Just a suggestion. Whatever you decide to do, please post photos.
