It's Not Easy Being Green

My only dining table is green, with green chairs to match. I bought it at a no-frills closeout furniture store in NC many years ago and fell in love with the style of the table, even though I wasn't crazy about the color. It has a tile top (green also) where you can pull the sides out and the leaf pops up - very convenient, and I don't think I'll ever go back to another style.

Being green, it limits what I can do with the room that it's in, and taxes my very limited decorating skills. I stared at it long and hard this morning and pondered on a solution. They are dinged and chipped anyway, so ...

Paint.

The seat of the chairs are a brown/cherry color and they're just fine, but I can paint the legs and back of the chairs and the legs of the table and pull it all together. I don't think I'll attempt to paint the top of the table because it's rubbery stuff between the tiles and I'm not sure how that would work, but keeping it covered will solve that little problem.

Now that that's decided, what color?

I thought about white, but I don't think it would look well with the seat color. Thought about country white/cream, but not sure how that would look with the white bead-board I plan on putting on the lower portion of that wall.

Black.

I had a can of black spray paint on hand so took one of the chairs to the garage and painted two legs so I could see the contrast next to the seat. It's a flat finish and I'll want something with a bit of gloss to it, but I think the color will be great. I might even consider distressing them.

Cementing the idea is the fact that my new desk on the other side of that large room is a cherry finish with black accents. Perfect!

(This is the pic from the box - mine is almost this neat)

This should be a fairly simple project even for me, so for the cost of a couple cans of spray paint, I'll have a whole new look. Whatdya think?

This is hard for me as green is my very favorite color of all the colors but I am trying to learn to love black and white. I am sure it will be lovely. I am enjoying you enjoying your new home.

I think it will be wonderful! I especially like the idea of distressing it a bit. Like Roberta Anne, I love that you are enjoying your new home so very much! It is so nice to 'hear' joy in your voice! God is so good!
Can't wait to see the 'new' dining suite!

Luv ya!
