I prefer to use green and natural products in my home whenever possible, and an online friend has been talking about these yummy, all naturals products at Sun Drenched Soaps, so off I went to shop. I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted, so after giving her an idea of what qualities I was looking for, she concocted a sample bar just for me.
All products at Sun Drenched Soaps are hand-blended from sulfate-free, all natural materials from your choice of four soap bases - goat's milk, shea butter, castille and clear glycerine. Each of the bases can be 'flavored' with the scent of your choice.
I don't like an overpowering scent, so chose the goat's milk soap in Honey-Almond. I wanted an exfoliant, and after discussing several options, we thought dried orange peel would work for my needs. I used the soap for the first time yesterday and it was all I expected, and then some.
At first glance I didn't think the exfoliant would be what I'd hoped because I couldn't really see the orange peel. When I first applied it to my skin in the shower, I was amazed. It was pretty scratchy, almost sand-like, and might be too rough for some people, but it was exactly what I wanted. It's especially good for the feet and elbows, and as long as you use a light hand, you should be able to use it all over your body (I wouldn't recommend it for the face, though).
Normal size bars are available, but I liked the smaller cake that I received as a sample, so that's what I'll be purchasing more of. I put the 'face' of the soap into the palm of my hand which allowed for a nice grip, and used the larger, flat side of the soap for washing.
I've already placed my order and this time going to try three different scents - Lime and Cilantro, Citrus Sunshine, and Awapuhi. Watch for a review of those soon!
If you like hand-made soaps with no harmful chemicals, spend a few minutes looking around at Sun Drenched Soaps. If you don't see what you're looking for, ask if she'll whip up something special. You won't be disappointed.
