Free Books to Review

If you read a good book, do you recommend it to your friends? Blog about it and get the book free!

There are several sites that will send you a free book in exchange for an honest review on your blog.  Many authors run contests to give away free books in hopes of getting a review, or at least a new fan who might purchase their other books.  Search the name of your favorite authors to see if they have a website, and look for them on Facebook and Twitter; 'like' their fan page and follow them to keep tabs on giveaways and contests they may be running.

In the last 10 days I've received four books in the mail, just for the asking.  Two require a review on my blog, and two I won when the author or publishing company sponsored a contest, and I'll review for them as a thank you.  When I'm done reading the book and writing the review, I'll combine the blog post with a giveaway of the book and pass it on to one of my readers.  Here's a giveaway I'm running that ends today so you can see how I run mine (still time to get your entries in!).

Here are two companies I signed up with to receive free books to review:

I review for BookSneeze® Photobucket

This is a great idea. I'm afraid I'd overbook myself though.

Oh boy, now I'm in big trouble. I am going to have to check these out. NetGalley added enough to my reading list that these might just put me over the top. I might have to resist until the kids start school.

Thanks for the information, Marie Anne. I'm a children's literature enthusiast, and I have wanted to start a blog just for reviewing children's books. I will definitely keep your post bookmarked to refer back to once I get around to starting the blog. :)
